Inclusive Climate Action

About This Course

C40's Inclusive Climate Action (ICA) Programme has grown in terms of size and mission over the past years and is now deeply embedded within the wider business. It is therefore important to have a base level of awareness and understanding of equity and inclusion of climate action across all C40 staff.

This course will give you an overview of inclusive climate action and provide you with the essential knowledge, tools and resources to make climate action as inclusive, equitable and effective as possible. It contains seven modules:

  • The first will introduce you to Inclusive Climate Action (ICA), the course, and how Inclusive Climate Action works in practice.
  • The second will introduce you to the Global Green New Deal and the Just Transition.
  • The third will explain why inclusive community engagement is critical and how you can do it in practice.
  • The fourth will introduce you to inclusive planning, including equity assessments.
  • The fifth will cover the principles around equitable distribution of benefits, as well as monitoring and evaluation of climate action.
  • The sixth will show you the day-to-day application of Inclusive Climate Action.
  • And the final module will recap the course and test that you have understood the core principles of the modules.

Requirements

Inclusive Climate Action is relevant to C40 staff beyond those working directly with cities. Equity and Inclusion considerations and actions can be integrated into workstreams and projects of all teams at C40 to yield more equitable and inclusive outcomes through your work. There are therefore no prior requirements necessary to take this course. It will be a safe space for discussion and joint learning.
